Super Junior (Korean: 슈퍼주니어), also known as simply SJ or SuJu (Korean: 슈주), is a thirteen-member Korean boy band formed by SM Entertainment in 2005, masterminded by Lee Soo Man. The group initially debuted with twelve members on November 6, 2005 with the single, "TWINS (Knock Out)". The original twelve members, from oldest to youngest, are Leeteuk (the leader), Heechul, Han Geng, Yesung, Kang-In, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook, and Kibum. The Chinese member, Han Geng, was chosen among the 3,000 applicants through auditions held in China by SM Entertainment in 2001.

Many of the members had already pursued an entertainment career before Super Junior's debut through acting, DJ-ing, and modeling. On May 23, 2006 SM Entertainment announced the addition of a new member, Kyuhyun, making them the thirteen-member group they are today.




Park Jung-su (Hangul: 박정수; Hanja: 朴正洙; born July 1, 1983), better known by his stage name Leeteuk (Hangul: 이특; Hanja: 利特), is a singer, dancer, MC, DJ, television host, and the oldest member and leader of Korean boy band Super Junior.




Kim Heechul (Hangul: 김희철; Hanja: 金希澈; born July 10, 1983), also credited as simply Heechul (Hangul: 희철; Hanja: 希澈), is an actor, singer, dancer, MC, DJ, television host, and the second oldest member of Korean boy band Super Junior. He is known as Cinderella (신데렐라) by his fans and they often refer to him as "Heenim" (희님). Likewise, Heechul calls his fans "Petals" (꽃잎).[1]




Han Geng (traditional Chinese: 韓庚; simplified Chinese: 韩庚; pinyin: Hán Gēng; born February 9, 1984), better known in Korea as Hankyung (Hangul: 한경), is a singer, dancer, actor, and a member of the Korean boy band Super Junior. He is the only Chinese member of the group and is the first Chinese artist to break into the Korean music industry. He is one of the two members in the group who performs Chinese martial arts, the other being Sungmin. He is also known for his dancing skills, particularly skillful in Chinese traditional dances from 56 minority ethnic groups. [a][2] He is seen as one of the four lead dancers of Super Junior and an important figure to further continue the Korean wave in China.[3] Han is also a torch bearer for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, being the first boy band member to be chosen in history.[4]



Kim Jong-woon (Hangul: 김종운; Hanja: 金鐘雲; born August 24, 1984) is a singer, former DJ, dancer, and a member of Korean boy band Super Junior. Being amongst the most vocally-powerful member in the group, he chose the stage name Yesung (Hangul: 예성; Hanja: 藝聲), which is translated to "art-like voice."

Kim Young-woon (Hangul: 김영운; Hanja: 金英雲; born January 17, 1985), better known by his stage name Kang-In (Hangul: 강인; Hanja: 強仁) is a singer, dancer, actor, MC, DJ, television host, and a member of Korean boy band Super Junior. He was one of the three MC's for M.NET's M!Countdown along with bandmates Leeteuk and Shindong before he was replaced by Eunhyuk. He was also a former DJ for Reckless Radio where Super Junior members often visited as guests, but is now replaced by bandmate Sungmin. He is currently a DJ for MBC's Good Friend Radio with Taeyeon of Girls' Generation.[1]



Shin Dong-hee (Hangul: 신동희; Hanja: 申東熙; born September 28, 1985), better known by his stage name Shindong (Hangul: 신동; Hanja: 神童), is a singer, dancer, actor, MC, DJ, and a member of Korean boy band Super Junior. In the past Shindong has been criticized for his large size, which contradicts many slim Korean idols. Despite his larger appearance, Shindong is known to be one of the four lead dancers and the group's dance choreographer, creating dances for the bandmates whenever they make dance performances. Shindong is also the rapper of the group and co-writes rap lyrics with the rest of his bandmates. He is also Super Junior's main visual gag performer.



Lee Sung-min (Hangul: 이성민; Hanja: 李晟敏; born January 1, 1986), more commonly credited as Sungmin (Hangul: 성민; Hanja: 晟敏), is a singer, dancer, actor, DJ, and a member of Korean boy band Super Junior. He is a regular DJ of Reckless Radio and is one of the two members in Super Junior who performs Chinese martial arts, the other being Han Geng.[1] He currently attends Seoul Institute of the Arts, majoring in Broadcasting and Television Entertainment.



Lee Hyuk-jae (Hangul: 이혁재; Hanja: 李赫宰; born April 4, 1986), better known by his stage name Eunhyuk (Hangul: 은혁; Hanja: 銀赫) is a singer, dancer, MC, DJ, and a member of Korean boy band Super Junior. He used a stage name due to a conflict with another celebrity, Lee Hyuk-jae, a famous comedian who shares the same name. He is talented in areas of both rap and dance, as he is often seen performing solo dances in the group's live performances and music videos. His position in Super Junior is the lead rapper, combining bubblegum pop lyrics with his quick and unique voice tone. He is seen as one of the four lead dancers of Super Junior. He is also a drama and film major.



Lee Dong-hae (Hangul: 이동해; Hanja: 李東海; born October 15, 1986), more commonly credited as Donghae (Hangul: 동해; Hanja: 東海), is a singer, dancer, actor, and a member of Korean boy band Super Junior. He is seen as one of the four lead dancers of Super Junior. He currently attends Myongji University.



Choi Siwon (Hangul: 최시원, Hanja: 崔始源; born February 10, 1987), also credited as simply Siwon (Hangul: 시원, Hanja: 始源), is an actor, singer, dancer and a member of Korean boy band Super Junior. Choi's breakthrough performance was in the 2006 Hong Kong historical action drama film, A Battle of Wits, where he plays the young prince, Liang Shi.



Kim Ryeo-wook (Hangul: 김려욱; Hanja: 金厲旭; born June 21, 1987), more commonly credited as Ryeowook (Hangul: 려욱; Hanja: 厲旭), is a singer, dancer, and the third youngest member of Super Junior. Although he is not the youngest member of Super Junior, he is recognized by his fellow members as the "eternal magnae" (eternal youngest). Even before Kyuhyun's addition to the group, Ryeowook commonly called himself the youngest despite being a few months older than Kibum. Kim is currently studying in Inha University under the Department of Drama and Cinema.



Kim Kibum (Hangul: 김기범; Hanja: 金起範; born August 21, 1987), also credited as simply Kibum (Hangul: 기범; Hanja: 起範), is an actor, singer, dancer, and the second youngest member of Korean boy band Super Junior.



Cho Kyu-hyun (Hangul: 조규현; Hanja: 趙奎賢; born February 3, 1988), more commonly credited as Kyuhyun (Hangul: 규현; Hanja: 奎賢), is a singer, dancer, and the youngest member of Korean boy band, Super Junior. He is currently a Modern Music major at Kyunghee University.
